MILWAUKEE (AP) - A group that works toward sustainable-energy practices is teaming up with the city of Milwaukee to give away as many as 1,000 trees this weekend.Energy Exchange Inc. and the city say their goal is to restore Milwaukee's urban tree canopy. They're offering trees to Milwaukee residents and owners of commercial property.Trees can be picked up Saturday morning. Those who reserve one can choose from nine varieties, including honey locust, crabapple, Sargent cherry and dawn redwood. Unreserved trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.Those who accept trees will be asked to sign a form promising to plant the tree on private property within a week and send a digital photo to Energy Exchange. They must also agree to maintain the tree.
