BARABOO - A tree fell on a tent at a Wisconsin campground, killing a 10-year-old girl from Illinois.
The girl, her brother, and father were at Devil's Lake State Park in Baraboo this weekend.
All three were in their tent early Sunday morning when the tree fell. The girl and her father were trapped. The 13-year-old boy was able to climb out and get help.
"Some other campers from throughout the area tried to pull them from underneath the tree," said park superintendent Steve Schmelzer. "But they were unsuccessful in doing that and had to wait until the fire department came and had to cut the section of tree out."
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
The boy had minor scrapes and bruises. The father was treated at St. Claire's Hospital in Baraboo and released.
