"Go Purple Day” supports Waukesha stabbing victim

WAUKESHA - The family of a young stabbing victim in southeastern Wisconsin encouraged people to wear purple Tuesday. That's her favorite color.

The 12-year-old Waukesha girl is out of the hospital as she recovers from 19 stab wounds.

The victim's parents say “Go Purple Day” is just one way to support their daughter.

Family friends say the girl has a long recovery ahead of her.

"Her injuries and wounds are healing more quickly than we anticipated which is fantastic news for both the girl and her family, but at the same time there's a long road to recovery that's in front of them both from a physical and emotional standpoint,” said one family friend.

Two of the girl's classmates are charged with attempted murder.

Police say they stabbed the girl to please a fictional horror character.
