Former Walker co-chair holding fundraiser for Humphries
MADISON (AP) -- The former chairman of Gov. Scott Walker's campaigns for president and governor is co-hosting a fundraiser for a state superintendent candidate who signed the petition to recall Walker from office.
The Wisconsin State Journal reported Wednesday that recently retired Bradley Foundation president Mike Grebe was holding the fundraiser in Milwaukee for John Humphries.
Humphries has attracted support from conservatives in his run for state superintendent despite having signed the petition to recall Walker in 2011.
An email invitation from Humphries' campaign says Grebe is co-hosting the event along with Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation chairwoman Lisa Mauer and others. Grebe did not immediately return a message.
Humphries and former Beloit superintendent Lowell Holtz are challenging incumbent Tony Evers. Racine high school teacher Rick Melcher is running as a write-in candidate.
