The state Department of Justice announced Monday that former Jefferson County detective Timothy Madson was found guilty of misconduct in office on Friday following a jury trial.
The 56-year-old Madson was supervisor of the county's drug task force from 2003 until late 2011.
According to the criminal complaint, Madson claimed more than $10,000 in questionable expenses from a fund he controlled to cover drug buys and other incidental task force expenses. Other members of the task force said Madson didn't do any work that would have required reimbursement because he was the supervisor.
Madson is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 1.
