ROTHSCHILD (AP) — Four people are dead, including a police officer, after a shooting in Marathon County.

The Shootings took place at a bank in Rothschild, a law office in Schofield, and an apartment building in Weston.

Police say the shootings happened all within a few minutes of each other.

A suspect is in custody.

The first shooting occurred around 1:00 p.m., police say, when someone reported shots being fired at Marathon Savings Bank in Rothschild.

About 10 minutes later, police received a call for shots fired at Tlusty, Kennedy and Dirks law office in Schofield, which is less than two miles away from the bank.

A few minutes later, police were called to Aspen Street Apartments, about two miles from the law office.

Police believe the incidents are domestic related, but provided few details beyond that for why someone was opening fire.

Police did not say which of the locations the victims were killed at.

The victims have not yet been identified.

Authories did say the officer who was killed was from the Everest Metro Police Department.

"As you all know this is a complex and ongoing investigation involving three crime scenes and multiple victims of shootings at those locations. the process has begun to investigate these situations," said Lt. Todd Baeten with the Wausau Police Department.

Schools in the D.C. Everest School District were put on lock down for a few hours.

A number of residents at the apartment scene were evacuated and police say the Red Cross is assisting those displaced.

The investigation is now in the hands of the State Department of Justice.

More information is expected to be released Thursday during a news conference.
