(WLUK) – The House Appropriations Committee has again endorsed building three littoral combat ships as part of the 2017 defense appropriations bill.

The ships are built at Marinette Marine and Austul in Alabama.

According to the information released Thursday, the House committee wants three LCS built. A Senate version of the bill has called for just two.

Both the full Senate and House would have to approve of the legislation, as would President Trump – who has been outspoken in recent days about his desire to build up the armed forces.

It has not been determined yet which shipyard – Marinette Marine or Austul – would build the ship.
