Youth hunters learn skills at Waterfowl Day
SUAMICO - The Green Bay Duck Hunters held their Youth Waterfowl Day at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve on Saturday.
Kids learned about duck hunting with demonstrations on duck calls, field and water hunting. There were also demonstrations on how to train a duck-hunting dog.
Matt Kriese, the Assistant Park Advisor at the preserve, said the goal of the event is to get kids to experience new things in the outdoors.
"Ultimately our appreciation for the natural resources and the outdoors and the future affect everybody's lives." Kriese said. "We get these kids out here and realize what hunting is all about, even if they aren't going to hunt in the future, at least they understand what it's all about."
The event is in its eighth year.
