GREEN BAY - A recommendation on a downtown Green Bay Walmart could be made Monday.Green Bay's city council will have a special advisory committee meeting at 5 p.m.City Council President Tom De Wane says most, if not all, of the city's twelve aldermen will be at the meeting.De Wane says he wants to speed up the process because Walmart's purchase option for the Broadway property it wants to build on ends on June 14. That is when the city would take on the property's multi-million dollar loan.Any decision made at the meeting would still need to go before the plan commission and full city council.Walmart submitted a new proposal to the city last week. It includes a 154,000 square foot store with 600 parking stalls.Green Bay's city staff countered Walmart's proposal with two alternative options. One of the plans called for a two-story, 150,000 square foot store with a parking ramp and four mixed use development buildings. The other option was for Walmart to build its current proposal on Velp Ave., less than a half mile from the Broadway site.
