Wabeno man reaches plea deal on child abuse charges

CRANDON - A Wabeno man pleaded guilty Tuesday to a child abuse charge while four other counts, including attempted homicide, were dismissed as part of a plea deal.Brandon Brunette will be sentenced Oct. 14, according to online court records.Brunette tossed his girlfriend's 19-month-old son across a room into a wall or TV stand. Investigators say boy suffered a fractured skull. Prosecutors reserved the right to re-file homicide charges should the boy die before Oct. 18 - which would be a year and a day after the crime.
