LUXEMBURG - A tanker carrying non-hazardous whey byproduct spilled into the streets of Luxemburg on Tuesday.

The Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department and the Luxemburg Police Department responded to a call at the intersection of Highway 54 and Main Street at 10:47 a.m.

The driver of the tanker, Jeffrey Klarkowski of Packerland Whey Products, noticed an open valve at the stoplights. By the time Klarkowski was able to shut the valve, a couple hundred gallons had leaked from the tanker.

It took responding teams about 4 hours to cleanup the spill.
