Suspected drunken driver arrested with children in vehicle pleads not guilty
MANITOWOC (WLUK) -- A man arrested for child neglect after finding him passed out in a car -- and with two kids asleep in the car -- waived a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty Wednesday.
Luis Jimenez was arrested Feb. 15 after police found him parked on S. 37th Street. The children -- whose ages were deleted from the police report released -- “appeared to be adequately clothed with coats and hoods over their heads,” the report states.
The police reported noted a preliminary breath test showed his blood alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit. However, Jimenez does not face any alcohol or driving-related charges.
A settlement conference is scheduled for April 6 on one felony count of child abuse and two misdemeanor counts of child abuse.
