Survey crew worker hit by car in Bellevue

Authorities on scene after a survey crew worker was hit on the Hwy. 172

BELLEVUE - A survey crew member working on a highway project is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Bellevue.

It happened around 11:00 Monday morning on the Hwy. 172 eastbound ramp toward I-43 north.

Brown County sheriff's officials said two survey crew workers were on the ramp.

A 64-year-old Hilbert area man was was on the right shoulder of the road and walked into the traffic lane. That's when he was hit by a car along the curve.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old New Franken area man, was not able to avoid the worker.

Traffic had to be detoured. Investigators said they haven't decided on whether charges will be filed.
