Deal reached for city owned hotel downtown Green Bay

Former Clarion Hotel, Downtown Green Bay.

GREEN BAY - The city of Green Bay is no longer in the hotel business.

It reached a deal Friday, to sell the Clarion Hotel. Michigan based, American Hospitality is the new owner.

The company bought the hotel for $2.7 million and will spend about $5 million renovating it.

The city purchased the hotel in March for more than $2.5 million.

It wanted to make sure the nearby KI Convention Center expansion moved forward.

Construction is expected to be complete next year.
