The first armed robbery was on May 25, around 8:20 p.m. A man walked into the Subway store at 825 S. Huron Rd. wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask and robbed the clerk. The suspect ran from the area but was captured on video.
Officers who responded to the scene found a ski mask that the man wore during the robbery.
Then, on June 7, around 8:45 p.m., a man entered another Subway store at 1180 E. Mason St. and robbed it in a similar manner.
Detectives working on this case identified a person of interest and interviewed him. The man denied any involvement but a DNA sample was obtained from him to compare to the ski mask found at the first robbery.
During the interview the man did say these crimes were fueled by an opiate addiction.
