Sheriff's officials: Armed 70-year-old threatened tubers on Florence Co. river

FLORENCE COUNTY - Florence County authorities say a 70-year-old man is in custody after he threatened tubers at gunpoint on the Pine River Oxbox.

Tubers were floating on the river in Commonwealth Township Saturday, when the man appeared from shore.

He told them the river belonged to him and that he was "King of America."

Sheriff's officials says the man then pointed a shotgun at the group as they floated by. The suspect also confronted other groups of tubers.

Deputies took the man into custody along with a two guns and 280 rounds of ammunition.

He was taken to the Florence County Jail. No charges have been filed yet.
