Settling of sidewalk closes part of Meade St. overpass

APPLETON - Drivers have one fewer option for crossing Hwy. 41 in Appleton.The Department of Transportation has closed northbound lanes on the Meade St. (Hwy. E) overpass after settling of some of the sidewalk was discovered. The settled area is on the approach to the north side of the bridge.A 15-ton weight limit has been set for the bridge; however, officials say the bridge itself is safe and was inspected last fall.Crews are investigating the settling and trying to determine how to fix it.The closure comes as the Richmond St. overpass is also closed for construction.
