Schneider family donates $30 million to St. Norbert
DE PERE (WLUK) -- St. Norbert College has received the largest single donation in its history, thanks to the family of a prominent Northeast Wisconsin business leader.
The Donald J. and Patricia A. Schneider family has donated $30 million, the college announced Friday. The money will be applied to the school's endowment.
“We are honored and humbled by the remarkably generous gift from the Donald J. and Patricia A. Schneider Family and by their enduring devotion to helping others throughout our community,” Brian Bruess, president of St. Norbert College, said in a news release. “Their gift will help St. Norbert College students for generations to come by providing a rigorous educational experience that engages them in community service and developmental experiences working with local organizations.”
The Schneider family has already left its legacy on the St. Norbert campus. Donald J. Schneider Stadium opened in 2010, and a donation from Schneider's estate helped establish the college's business school and MBA program in 2015.
Don Schneider, who died in 2012, was a 1957 graduate of St. Norbert. He also served on the college's board of trustees and was a part-time instructor. Schneider ran his family's trucking company, Ashwaubenon-based Schneider National.
