Officers, suspect fall through ceiling of Appleton home

Police tracked suspect to home in Appleton 7/1/14

APPLETON - A police situation in Appleton ended with two officers, a K-9 and a suspect falling through the ceiling of a home.

It happened on the 3100 block of N. Durkee St. around 5:30 Tuesday evening.

Authorities say police went to the house to find a 20-year-old man who had a warrant out for his arrest. But when police arrived, they say the man would not come out of the home.

Officers were able to get an woman safely out of the home before going in.

Eventually officers went into the home, using a police K-9 to track the man. The suspect was found hiding in the attic.

When police went to put handcuffs on the man, the floor gave way, and the officers, the suspect and the K-9 all fell through.

Police say they do not believe anyone was seriously injured.

Appleton police say they have been tracking the 20-year-old suspect for three weeks. The man was wanted in connection with a domestic violence case. He is being held in the Outagamie County Jail.
