GREEN BAY - Members of various police agencies from across the area paid tribute Thursday to those killed in the line of duty.

Officers stood watch at the Community Tribute to Law Enforcement, which is in front of the Green Bay Police Department.

Thursday was Peace Officers' Memorial Day. It was first declared such in 1962 by President Kennedy.

There have been 271 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in Wisconsin and more than 20,000 nationally. In 2013, 105 police officers were killed across the country.
