CECIL (WLUK) -- Saturday morning kicked off the inland lake season opener for fishing.

Our Good Day Wisconsin crew spent the morning checking out the action on Shawano Lake in Cecil.

It was off to a slow start, but those who headed out early were excited for the season.

For one fisherman, it was the first time he's gone out on opening day and he has been fishing for 35 years.

He says while he won't be out all day, he's excited to get out on the water.

"I don't usually catch too many fish but I enjoy the time on the water that's why I'm here. I just got the boat in the fall off of Craig's list so I've been putting all of the electronics and things like that on it so I'm just going to get a couple hours out there," said Kurt Cornielsen.
