NEW Zoo's zipline opens up for a new audience
SUAMICO - The NEW Zoo added additional equipment to their zipline to accommodate more people.
Now children and adults with physical disabilities can also take a ride.
The new equipment features a special harness and a pulley system that can life people out of wheelchairs.
Organizers say the reactions have been priceless.
Matt Kriese, Assistant Park Director says, "to get these people outside, to get them experiencing something that they never have before. So to see the smile on these participants faces and to see their helpers and assistants, their family members, I mean it almost brings tears to their eyes and that's awesome to see."
There will be special times when the zipline will be available for disabled passengers.
The park plans to hold another day similar to the trial ran Monday in September.
