New Leaf Market planning option expires

GREEN BAY - The planning option has expired for the property where New Leaf Market planned to build.

New Leaf Market would be a full-service, community owned grocery store.

Leaders of the effort tell FOX 11 they still hope to build on Main Street, near where the Greyhound station is. However, they say they are looking into whether the grocery store would work in what they call a changing downtown landscape.

New Leaf has 825 members. The membership fee is $180.

In a July 2013 story with FOX 11, Lynn Walter, the president of New Leaf Market, said the group hoped to have 1,500 members by the time the store opens.

FOX 11 has been leaving phone messages with Walter for the past two days, but she has not returned our calls for an interview.

A New Leaf Market board meeting is scheduled for July 15 to talk about the market analysis.
