Michael David Peak, 40, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison. Shawn Allen Klatt, 33, was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison. Both pleaded guilty to charges of using a telephone to facilitate the distribution of heroin.
Prosecutors say Peak and Klatt worked with seven other people to move heroin to Marinette and Menominee, Michigan, from a primary supplier in Chicago. Their operation was described as a "drug co-operative" designed not to create a profit, but to increase purchasing power and the frequency of coordinated heroin runs to Chicago.
