GREEN BAY - Police have arrested a suspect in the June 2 armed robbery of a gas station.

Around 6:15 p.m., officers say they were called to the U-Pump Citgo, 1233 Velp Ave. Witnesses told them a man showed a handgun, demanded money and then ran from the store to a vehicle that was waiting nearby.

With help from neighbors, witnesses and other members of the public, police tracked down the suspect and the vehicle. They arrested a 25-year-old man last Thursday, but did not want to publicize the arrest because they wanted to show lineups to witnesses.

Police say the man robbed the gas station to supply a heroin addiction.

The suspect has not yet been formally charged.
