DOJ releases more details on Kewaunee Co. deputy-involved shooting
FRANKLIN (WLUK) -- State criminal investigators have released the name of the man killed in a deputy-involved shooting in Kewaunee County.
Officials say 22-year-old Tyler D. Whitmire was shot and killed by a Kewaunee County deputy on Monday night.
The DOJ says deputies responded to a 911 call along County Road AB, south of State Highway 29. It was reported a man was threatening a woman and nearby residents with a knife. When the suspect confronted authorities, one of the deputies fired his gun, investigators say.
Whitmire died at the scene.
The deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The deputy's name has not been released.
