MANITOWOC (WLUK) -- In an effort to keep the public in the loop on the Mirro building demolition, the city of Manitowoc has created a website. contains a list of frequently asked questions and updates on the project.

There's also a live feed on the website to watch the progress on the demolition.

The former aluminum cookware plant approved a demolition bid in February.

According to the website, officials say the deconstruction portion of the project will begin starting in early June and estimated to be completed by the end of July.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be more than $2.5 million.

For those wondering if they can take a piece of the 100-year-old building home, the city has decided not to sell wood or bricks from the building to the public due to potential risks to human health and the environment.

The building, located at 1512 Washington Street, has been vacant for more than 13 years.
