TOWN OF SCHLESWIG (WLUK) -- A Manitowoc County cheese manufacturer is voluntarily recalling Colby jack cheese because a pasteurizer temporarily malfunctioned.

The state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says because of the malfunction at Henning's Cheese, it's not possible to verify the cheese has been properly pasteurized. No illnesses have been reported from the affected cheese.

About 1,000 pounds of the Colby jack cheese were distributed across Wisconsin. The recall only affects Colby jack sold on or after April 10 in one- and two-pound blocks. A label on the bottom of the block will have date code 1007.

Those who bought the affected Henning's Colby jack cheese are urged to return it to the store where it was purchased, or to Henning's Cheese store near Kiel for a refund. Those with questions can call (920) 894-3032 Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
