Waterfowl preserve offers outdoor programs for children
SUAMICO (WLUK) -- With summer fast approaching, outdoor activities for kids will be a focus for families.
One place gearing up for the season is Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve in Suamico, where the wildlife and plant life is thriving.
Programs for children include frog hunting, kayaking and the popular summer day camps.
The focus is to help children look beyond not just the technology in front of them, but even beyond the hiking trail, as well.
"Experience what's out there," said Matt Kriese, assistant park director. "Often times we get somewhat tunnel-visioned, and we take a look at the trail and we're enjoying our hike, but as soon as we open our eyes to what's on the side, you'll learn a lot. Our programs really open up your eyes to what's around you in our natural world."
Summer programs do require registration.
