SEYMOUR (WLUK) -- Officials in northern Outagamie County say an out-of-state group of solicitors were going door-to-door without proper identification and permits.

Seymour Police say the four solicitors from Idaho were selling cleaning products and going door-to-door using aggressive sales tactics.

When police approached them, they were unable to provide proper identification or permits needed to sell door-to-door in the city.

Police say it is illegal to sell door-to-door without a permit in Freedom, Seymour, Black Creek and Shiocton without a permit. The permitting process includes background checks and assures the sellers follow guidelines within each municipality.

Anytime a salesperson comes to your door, police say you should ask to see their permit or a company ID card and use your best judgement before letting them inside your home.
