Packers-themed house draws attention from fans and neighbors
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WLUK) -- Game day atmosphere was in the air Thursday in Green Bay before the Packers' first preseason game of the 2017 season.
Fans were celebrating in some of the many homes popping up around the stadium district that have a Packers theme, and one of them currently under construction was getting quite the attention from fans and neighbors alike.
In the shadow of Lambeau Field, and a steady stream of game-day traffic, a new neighbor towers above the row of Green Bay Packers-themed houses on Shadow Lane.
"Look at what's going up over there. I mean, that's wow," said Rick Zwolak of Rochester, New York.
Zwolak says the three-story structure is impressive.
"I think it's a terrific idea. I've never seen anything like it," he said.
Todd Fegan and his family posed for their first Lambeau Leap Thursday morning. They say the new house compliments others on the block.
"It's a good blend. Architecturally, you want them to match, so I think that's good, absolutely," said Todd Fegan of Manchester, Michigan
Taking a closer look down Shadow Lane, the sounds of construction crews competed with those of children trying to make some money.
"Lemonade, get your fresh-squeezed lemonade," said area children at a lemonade stand.
The builder on-site said the owner of the house requested a Packers theme with a Lambeau Field look. And from the green aluminum trim to the brown-colored brickwork, neighbors are saying the new house is a hit.
"It's very stylish, everybody's jealous. All the other neighbors are jealous. But no, it's a great theme," said Bruce Parrott of Green Bay.
A theme Parrott said fits in well with other construction projects around Lambeau Field.
"It stays in step with everything. Let's hope that house is there as long as the stadium is there.
So the big question is who owns the house? Through the builder, the owner says at this point he doesn't want to do an interview.
However, he says the house should be completed by Sept. 1.
