BROWN COUNTY (WLUK) -- Starting March 20, I-43 will be down to only one lane for both directions between WIS 96 in Denmark and the WIS 172/I-43 interchange ramp. Expect travel delays, the DOT says.

According to the DOT, the lane closures are part of an I-43 resurfacing and bridge structure project that will take place from March 20, 2017 to November 2017. Some local roads and I-43 ramps will also close for the construction.

The overpass of County MM at I-43 will be closed and properly detoured for bridge deck replacement until late May 2017. County MM/I-43 ramps will stay open during the replacement, but motorists will not be able to cross the bridge deck. Anyone looking to access US 141/29 from southbound I-43 will be directed to use the County Road JJ/I-43 exit. All lanes of I-43 under the County MM bridge will be closed nightly from 8:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. until March 24.

In Manitowoc, I-43 will be down to one lane in both directions between Point Creek Road and Silver Creek Road. Construction projects include resurfacing, bridge overlays and a bridge replacement on I-43 between Clover Road and Point Creek Road.

The DOT reminds motorists that fines double in work zones and encourages that people limit all distraction while driving. The Wisconsin State Patrol will provide special enforcement to ensure worker and driver safety.
