Arrest made in connection with death of Nicole VanderHeyden
BROWN COUNTY (WLUK) - The Brown County Sheriff's Office says an arrest has been made in connection with the murder of Nicole VanderHeyden.
George Burch, 38, was arrested Wednesday morning and booked into the Brown County Jail on homicide charges. Burch has not yet been formally charged, but authorities say he was arrested in connection to Nicole VanderHeyden's death.
VanderHeyden body was found near a field in Bellevue on May 21. Investigators said they believed she was beaten and strangled.
Burch is not the first person to be arrested in this case. Two days after VanderHeyden's body was found, her boyfriend was arrested. Investigators said they found blood near the home he shared with VanderHeyden in Ledgeview. However, he was released from jail in June, after prosecutors said there was not enough evidence to charge him.
The sheriff's office is expected to release more information about the arrest in the coming days.
Burch is expected to be in Brown County Court Thursday afternoon.
