Some area nursing students are making a difference for kids in the hospital.

The NWTC Student Nurses Association students teamed up with area donors to present Books 'n' Blankets.

Books 'n' Blankets is an outreach project aimed at serving the pediatric population in Green Bay hospitals with care packages.

Students teamed up with area churches, schools, businesses and individual donors for the event.

Each care bundle has a new, handmade tie blanket, along with a book.

The students say they wanted to bring smiles to area kids who are hospitalized this Christmas season.

"It's a different time of year to be spending in the hospital for these kiddos so they need something a little different to look forward to than the average kids at this time of year,' said Stephanie Fritsch, SNA Community Service Chair.

The care packages will be distributed to the pediatric units at St. Vincent and Bellin hospitals on Thursday.
