Green Bay church approves cell tower deal
GREEN BAY - A Green Bay church is one step closer to putting up a cell tower despite concerns from neighbors.
Parishioners voted this weekend to approve a deal with AT&T.
St. Joseph Church on 12th Ave. would allow AT&T to construct a steeple on the back of the church and hide a cell tower inside the structure.
The mobile phone provider would pay the cost of construction and make monthly payments to the church.
Last month, area neighbors protested saying the cell tower could cause health issues and bring down property values.
Church members were made aware of the concerns and then voted to proceed with the plan.
The diocese must still sign-off on the deal. After that it's up to AT&T to secure the appropriate local and state permits.
