MADISON – Three area harbor projects are getting a financial boost from the state.

Gov. Scott Walker approved a total of $6.5 million for projects in Two Rivers, Sturgeon Bay, and Superior.

In Two Rivers, funds will be used to dredge the harbor entrance and build a sea wall. Both are designed to help commercial fisheries.

In Sturgeon Bay, a new dock wall will be constructed at Bay Shipbuilding. The project will allow for the docking of large ships for maintenance and construction.

Dock walls will also be built in Superior.

The funds come from the Wisconsin Harbor Assistance Program, which was created in 1979 to help harbor communities maintain and improve waterborne commerce.
