GBPD finishes investigation into controversial arrest

GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Police Dept. is finished with its investigation into an incident outside several downtown Green Bay bars which was caught on cellphone video.

Joshua Wenzel, 29, was arrested April 19 on S. Washington St. around bar closing time. Wenzel can be heard swearing at officers in the video that went viral on social media.

That's when Officer Derek Wicklund approached Wenzel, pushing him into a squad car and taking him to the ground. Wenzel was arrested for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

After the video of the arrest went viral, some citizens and observers called for Wicklund's job.

Police say the report will now go to the Police Chief Tom Molitor. The state Department of Justice is expected to review the results.
