Kevin Schmid, owner of Little Texas, LLC, pleaded no contest to charges the preserve failed to test the appropriate number of animals. The State Veterinarian's Office first identified the failure to test deer killed by hunters in 2010. At that time, the state required all farm-raised deer 16 months or older who were killed or died naturally on the premises to be tested.
The farm has since followed the testing rules, state officials say.
Little Texas was fined $5,000 plus court costs.
