Heart of the Valley expansion project breaks gorund
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Heart of the Valley expansion project took place Thursday in Kimberly.
Project officials say there will be a number of facility upgrades to the current center including wellness equipment upgrades, locker room expansions and more office space.
Officials say these changes are being made to fit the community's needs.
Some of the new facilities will include a cycling studio, an aerobic studio and a cardio theater.
The Heart of the Valley YMCA opened just over 13 years ago. Since then, officials say membership has grown from 700 members to 12,700 members.
"People are progressively becoming more conscience of their health and we feel like the YMCA, along with partners in the community, can provide opportunities for our families to get healthier and through our programs and services." said Bill Breider, President of YMCA Fox Cities
As of right now, the total need for the expansion project is just under $3 million.
