Forced abortion suspect still without attorney
APPLETON (WLUK) – Manishkumar Patel appeared in court Thursday for the fourth time, and he still does not have an attorney.
Patel faces ten charges, including attempted first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child, for allegedly trying to force his girlfriend’s abortion by putting a drug in her drink in 2007.
Patel skipped town after the charges were filed in 2007, forfeiting a $750,000 cash bond. He was arrested earlier this year in New York and was returned to Outagamie County, where a total bond of $50 million cash was set.
Thursday’s hearing marked his fourth in Outagamie County since that return. However, without an attorney, no preliminary hearing was set, according to court records.
A fifth status conference is now set for June 22.
