FOX 11 Follow Up: Project SEARCH graduation in Appleton
APPLETON - We have a FOX 11 Follow Up to a program helping people with disabilities find a job.
Project SEARCH is a program at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. It helps high school seniors gain real world office experience.
Thursday was graduation day for seven students who completed the program successfully.
"It helps me figure out what I want to do, because in the future I really want to be a teacher,” said Alex Larson, Project SEARCH graduate.
Parents also say the program gives their children a great chance to succeed in the real world.
"I know that my daughter now loves to be in an office setting, loves to do work, loves to work on the computers, so the skill sets that she learned here will qualify her to find a job hopefully in the near future,” said Zenoun Abouzelam, parent of graduate.
The program aims to have 70 to 80 graduates employed in the community in the next ten years.
