DE PERE (WLUK) -- The nice weather Sunday allowed people to head out on the Fox River in De Pere.

Those with spring fever took their boats on the water trying to catch a walleye.

Karl Schoen from Neillsville says he made the drive up to De Pere to catch the bigger fish.

An online tip said today had just the right conditions for it.

"He said that the river was open last week and the fish were hitting like crazy so that's why we came up here. Everybody says the next record walleye might come out of the Green Bay area that's why we're coming here," said Karl Schoen.

Schoen says he wasn't very lucky.

But other fishermen on a nearby boat did catch a few walleye.
