Ex-Ripon College official pleads not guilty to thefts

FOND DU LAC - Ripon College's former information technology director waived a preliminary hearing Monday and pleaded not guilty to 64 counts of theft and fraud.Ronald Haefner is scheduled to stand trial Jan. 5.He allegedly used a Ripon College credit card to buy things for himself, his family and even gifts for another college, headed by a former Ripon College president. The criminal complaint is a laundry list of purchases 18 pages long. Items range from iTunes purchases to thousands of dollars for Apple computers. The total value of the thefts alleged exceeds $425,000.Haefner was employed by the college from 1999 until he was fired last November.
