BONDUEL - Village leaders have put on hold plans to trap geese at a popular swimming pond.

Goose droppings at Cedar Park are a health hazard, leaders have said. The original plan - to feed sedatives to the geese and round them up - did not work. The village's next plan was to build a large net or impound to catch the geese. The geese would then have been killed, since they likely would have returned to the pond.

However, village president Melvin Wendland told FOX 11 Wednesday there haven't been as many geese in the park recently, so the village will forgo its plans.
