CLINTONVILLE - An unusual visitor made its way through the city over the weekend.Around 8:40 a.m. Saturday, police say they got a report of a bear near Clintonville Middle School on N. Main and Green Tree Rd. Police officers and a state trooper kept an eye on the animal as it moved east through the city. The officers made sure people were safe and stayed away from the bear.Click the play button above to watch video submitted through ReportIt.It went toward a wooded area along the Pigeon River on 16th St. around 3:45 p.m. No one else reported seeing the bear after that.The bear appeared to be fully grown.Police say bear sightings are rare, but they do happen, usually around this time of year. If you see a bear, officers say you should call police and stay away from the area. If left alone and monitored by police, the animals have always left the area on their own, police say.
