APPLETON - More than 100 organizations in Oshkosh, the Fox Cities and Green Bay area are about to receive some extra money.
Grants were awarded through the Basic Needs Giving Partnership Wednesday. Nearly $3 million was approved to be given out.
Thirty-nine new grants were established and 20 multi-year grants will continue to receive funding.
Organizations say the main goal of the grants is to fight poverty in the area.
"We are funding innovative solutions, out of the box thinking, we might not be helping immediately put shoes on a child's feet or food on a table but we're looking at literacy programs, we're looking at mental health programs,” said Cathy Mutschler, community engagement director.
The J.J. Keller Foundation and the U.S. Venture Open are major contributors to the fund.
