Appleton holding open house for proposed downtown development
APPLETON (WLUK) -- Citizens can learn more about a mixed-use development proposed for downtown Appleton at an open house next week.
The plan submitted by Commercial Horizons includes a new public library with space for retail and apartments or condominiums, along with a new parking ramp to replace the Soldier's Square ramp.
It's estimated the first phase of the project would create $22 million in new tax base and cost the city about $30 million.
The open house is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. March 15 in the Appleton Public Library's lower-level meeting rooms. Mayor Tim Hanna and representatives of Commercial Horizons are scheduled to give presentations at 6:30 p.m., with a question-and-answer session to follow.
City and library employees are also scheduled to be available for individual questions throughout the open house, so citizens can arrive and leave at any time.
