APPLETON - Some people in Appleton spent the first day of summer shopping at a time honored tradition.The Appleton Farmers Market kicked off on Saturday.Thousands of visitors packed Houdini Plaza and College Avenue.More than 150 vendors were onsite, offering fresh goods.Djuanna Hugdahl with the market says summer's here because of the sights and smells."It is nice to finally be outside, if you are out here you can smell the smells of summer," Hugdahl said. "I swear, when I smelled the mini-donuts cooking and the stuffed chicken wings cooking, it feels and smells like summer to me."The market runs every Saturday from 8:00 a.m to 12:30 p.m. from June until October.
