OSHKOSH - A judge denied the release request of a man found not guilty by mental disease for the shooting of his brother-in-law.

Christopher Andreas was convicted of four counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety for shooting Christopher Garland - his sister's husband - on Dec. 24, 2011. But the same jury then found he was not guilty due to mental disease or defect. Andreas was placed at a secure state mental facility.

Andreas petitioned the court for supervised release, but Winnebago County Judge Thomas Gritton denied the request Thursday, according to online court records.

      Garland survived the shooting.
