ALLOUEZ - A new apartment complex will be going up on the site where another one burned down.In May 2013, Hilltop Apartments in Allouez was destroyed. About a hundred people were displaced from the 74 units.Tuesday evening, the Allouez Village Board unanimously approved the site plan for the new complex.Hillcrest Lumber says it plans to break ground this summer for a 48-unit complex called Village View with higher rent than the Hilltop Apartments.Some neighbors said they would prefer a park and are worried about parking issues."We do have a question about the impact it's going to have on the surrounding property values and that's never really been discussed," said Matt Moore, a neighbor."It's a bittersweet project," said Dan Doro, the construction supervisor. "We're all excited about the project. We think it's a nice project, but it was a disaster what happened last fall. We understand and we haven't forgotten that part of it."The company expects the $4.5 million project will take six months to build.
